The local Bloemfontein newspapers created a roar with the announcement that lifelike model dinosaurs would be migrating to the Bloemfontein show grounds from 26 June till 26 July 2015.
The Occupational Therapy (OT) Subdivision from the Free State Psychiatric Complex (FSPC) decided to make use of this theme as part of a current history project program.
Several local newspapers, as well as Dinoplay on the DinosAlive website (http://www.dinosalive.com) provided many creative activity and craft ideas. However, no 2D picture or miniature model could have prepared the mental health care users (MHCU) for the experience of a life time, when they visited the DinosAlive exhibition on 16 July 2015.
The dinosaur models on display appeared very authentic due to their realistic movements and sounds. A tour guide provided facts and information in Sesotho and patiently answered numerous questions from the MHCU. Many of them had a cinematic experienced for the first time when watching the Discovery Channel documentary in the Dino Movie Room.
The OT subdivision would like to thank the DinosAlive team, especially Una Barrett and Christina Mpho Kouveldt, for providing the MHCU with the opportunity to experience something extraordinary and truly unforgettable. “RAWR!”
